LAWNDALE, NC — New technology may solve a nearly 21-year-old murder mystery in Cleveland County. Β Investigators exhumed Judy McMurry’s body Thursday at the Rose Hill Cemetery in Lawndale. Β They’re hoping DNA samples from her remains will lead them to her killer.
The sheriff says there’s a person of interest in the case, but will not release their identity. Β “What we want frist and foremost is closure for the family. Β The perpetrator brought to justice, and for it to act in a fast and swift manner,” said Cleveland County Sheriff Alan Norman.
McMurry worked at Penstar Mobile Home Sales on US-74. Β Her husband found her dead on April 26, 1993 when she didn’t come home from work.
