30 teams in action tonight
UNDATED (AP) — There is a full schedule of games tonight in Major League Baseball. In Toronto, Mark Buehrle (BUR’-lee) of the Blue Jays is looking for his fifth win of the season against no losses. The lefthander enters the game with a phenomenal 0.64 earned run average with 19 strikeouts. He has allowed just two earned runs in 28 innings of work. The Jays are facing the Red Sox and right-hander Jake Peavy, who doesn’t have a decision this season.
The longest winning streak in baseball these days is three straight and two teams, the Reds and Rangers, are riding the wave. The Texas club is on the road in Seattle tonight while the Reds are in Atlanta.
The rest of tonight’s schedule has the Royals in Baltimore for the start of a series, the Yankees home to the Angels, San Diego in Washington, the Mets entertaining the Marlins, Detroit at Minnesota, Houston hosting Oakland, the Rays in Chicago to meet the White Sox, the Cubs at Milwaukee, Pittsburgh in St. Louis, Arizona at home to the Phillies, Colorado in L.A. facing the Dodgers and the Giants home to the Indians.
NBA PLAYOFFS-SCHEDULE
The Nets, Wizards and Blazers are home tonight
UNDATED (AP) — The surprising Washington Wizards can take a commanding 3-0 lead over the visiting Chicago Bulls tonight. The Wizards won the opening games in the Windy City and if they win tonight’s game they’ll have the opportunity to close things out Sunday afternoon in front of the home fans.
The Nets are home tonight to the Raptors. This is Game 3 of their series, which is tied at 1-1. The fourth game is Sunday night, once again in New York.
Tonight’s final game is in Portland as the Blazers look to take a 2-1 lead over the Rockets. Portland won the first two games in Houston, which means following tonight’s game the fourth game will be Sunday in Portland.
NHL PLAYOFFS-SCHEDULE
Three more NHL playoff games tonight
UNDATED (AP) — The New York Rangers can take a 3-1 lead in their best-of-seven Stanley Cup playoff series with Philadelphia tonight. The New Yorkers top the series 2-1 after winning Game 3 Tuesday night 4-1. If the Rangers win tonight they’ll be able to clinch Sunday afternoon in Madison Square Garden.
The remaining action tonight features two series tied at two wins apiece. In St. Louis the Blues are skating against the Blackhawks, who have won the last two games. So far the home team has won every game in this series. The fifth game of the series is Sunday afternoon in Chicago.
And in Anaheim the Ducks and Stars resume their first-round series. They’ve split the first four games of the series with the home team coming out on top in every game as well. Game 5 is set for Sunday night in Dallas.
GOLF-ZURICH CLASSIC
Martin leads through 18
AVONDALE, La. (AP) — The second round of the PGA’s Zurich Classic is on tap today outside New Orleans. The leader when play came to an end yesterday was Ben Martin. He set a course record and tied a personal best with a 10-under-par 62 that left him two strokes in front of Andrew Svoboda (svoh-BOH’-dah). Martin has never finished higher than third in a PGA event.
GOLF-SWINGING SKIRTS CLASSIC
First round completion followed by round two
DALY CITY, Calif. (AP) — The first round of the inaugural Swinging Skirts LPGA event is being completed this morning before second-round play begins. The clubhouse leader when play was called last night because of darkness was Karine Icher (kah-REEN’ EE’-shur) at 6-under 66. She had a bogey-free round and hit all but one green in regulation. Lydia Ko and several others were two shots back when play was suspended with 24 players still on the course.

Sprint series hits Richmond
RICHMOND, Va. (AP) — The Sprint Cup race this week is taking place Saturday night under the lights in Richmond, Va. On tap today is the qualifying for the Toyota Owners 400.
The points leader entering this weekend is Jeff Gordon by just one point over Matt Kenseth with Carl Edwards 19 points off the lead and Dale Earnhardt Jr. 26 back.
