Β CHARLOTTE, NC — North Carolina teachers continue to fight for pay raises and tenure. Β The state superintendent is optimistic they’ll get their wish.
Doctor June Atkinson visited three schools in Charlotte Friday. Β She tells WCCB Charlotte it would be a huge mistake for the general assembly to ignore educators when it reconvenes next month.
“It is a detriment to our students’ learning to have a revolving door of always having first-year teachers,” she said. Β “Why would a teacher stay in North Carolina if they can go to another state and make $10,000 more?”
The Mecklenburg County Commission is scheduled to vote on a three percent pay raise for CMS teachers in May.
