GASTONIA, N.C. – The Gastonia Police Department have arrested 31-year-old Jerry Kent Orrell of Belmont in connection with the hit-and-run death of 53-year-old John Wayne King of Gastonia.Β
Gastonia Police located the 1997 Ford Explorer in a Food Lion parking lot off of Mt. Holly Huntersville Road, and the vehicle has been secured for processing.Β
Police say that Orrell turned himself in and has been cooperating with the investigation.Β
Orrell has been charged with Second Degree Murder, Felony Hit and Run, Driving While License Revoked, and Careless and Reckless Driving.
