LAUSANNE, Switzerland (AP) — Princess Haya of Jordan will seek four more years as International Equestrian Federation president after members abolished a two-term limit she introduced.

FEI member countries voted 103-3 on Tuesday to let presidents serve three consecutive terms.

The princess was elected in 2006 as a reformer to clean up the sport but has faced criticism for apparent conflicts of interest.

Thoroughbred and endurance racing operations of her husband, Sheik Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the ruler of Dubai, have been implicated in doping and welfare allegations.

Princess Haya, an IOC member, says is “very honored for the opportunity you have given me.”

Switzerland was among the ‘no’ votes and will field Pierre Genecand as a presidential candidate.

The election is scheduled in Dubai at a general assembly held Dec. 11-14.
