Β LANCASTER, SC — A 911 call gives more insight into what happened before a deadly officer-involved shooting in Lancaster. Β A resident called 911 saying a woman was driving drunk near Grace Avenue last Thursday morning. Β Deputies arrived at the scene and pulled 55-year-old Ingrid Mayer over for erratic driving.
“She’s very intoxicated,” said the 911 caller. Β “We carried the baby to school, and we got back and she was in the middle of the road, and we couldn’t even get in the driveway. Β When she got out, she couldn’t even stand up.”
At some point after deputies arrived, they shot and killed Mayer. Β The sheriff isn’t saying how the traffic stop escalated into a shooting, or if Mayer showed a weapon. Β Three deputies were placed on administrative leave.
