CHARLOTTE, NC — The Red Cross is ready to help out if the Charlotte region sees any severe weather or flooding from these storms. The disaster center in south Charlotte is stocked with more than 600 cots and twice as many blankets. They have food, water, and hundreds of flood clean-up kits ready to go. Reps say families should have a plan and supply kit ready.
“People say, ‘It’s not gonna happen to me.’ I’ve been in tornadoes and floods and hurricanes, and it’s always, ‘It’s gonna happen to the other guy.’ No it’s not!” said Red Cross Disaster Assessment Manager David Crockett.
Red Cross shelters don’t allow pets. If you have animals, plan to board them at a vet or kennel.
