Man on the Edge: What If This Was Your Dog?

This video is no longer available.

Β There is no other creature in the world that shows the kind of unconditional love a dog does, which makes being a veterinarian an extremely important position. Β So what happens when a vet loses the faith of his clients because he lies about a pet being dead or alive?

That’s exactly what one family is dealing with tonight. Β And the vet is dealing with the police. Β Dr. Lou Tierce of Fort Worth, Texas has lost his license, and is facing animal cruelty charges. Β All over a shocking story: a family who believed their pet had been put down found out he was still alive after six months. Β

The Harris family got word from one of Tierce’s ex-employees that their dog, Sid, not only had not been euthanized, but he was being used for blood transfusions for other dogs. Β They say, originally, Tierce told them Sid should be put to sleep because of a chronic spinal condition, and they agreed.

The vet tells a different story. Β He says the Harris family knew Sid was sick and asked for him to be put down. Β But the doctor didn’t have the heart for it because the dog wasn’t that sick. Β He says he’s taken care of Sid, despite the dirty conditions he was found in, and that the story was concocted by a disgruntled ex-employee.

But either way, it looks like the family didn’t know their pet was still alive. Β So how would you feel if that were your dog? Β Our Man on the Edge, Robert Wilder, hit the streets to find out…
