Β CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Hailey Kim, a third grade student at Providence Springs Elementary, is competing in a national competition called Doodle 4 Google after submitting her own design.Β
Kim heads to the competition next month in California to compete against 49 other students from across the country.
The winner will have their doodle featured on the U.S Google homepage and will be awarded a $30,000 college scholarship to be used at the school of his or her choice and a trip to the Google headquarters in California for the final awards ceremony on May 21.Β
Winners will also receive a Google Chromebook computer, an Android tablet and a t-shirt printed with his or her doodle on it.

Google will also award the winnerβs school with a $50,000 Google for Education grant toward the establishment/improvement of a computer lab/technology program.
