LENOIR, N.C. — A 14 month old boy was killed Sunday evening after being attacked by a Rottweiler that belonged to his grandfather. Β
Family members tell WCCB that Nyheim Wilfong and a 6 -year-old relative were playing near a wood pile at the back of the grandparents’ home on Early Drive in the Kings Creek area.
They walked by the chained dog and he attacked the toddler. The two boys were spending the day with their grandparents when the attack happened.
Nyheim was rushed to the hospital with serious injuries, but died from his injuries. The dog was seized by animal control. The Caldwell County Sheriff’s Department is investigating.
