NEW YORK (AP) — Retired Yankees closer Mariano Rivera says he would take Boston’s Dustin Pedroia over former teammate Robinson Cano as his top second baseman.
Rivera says that he if he had to win one game, it would be hard to pick anyone over Pedroia at the position.
That’s what Rivera says in his new book that was published Tuesday. It’s called “The Closer: My Story.”
Rivera played nine seasons with Cano. Baseball’s all-time saves leader says Cano is a Hall of Fame talent, but doesn’t think the All-Star “burns to be the best.”
Rivera retired after last year. Cano left the Yankees in the offseason and signed with the Seattle Mariners.
