KINGSTON, Jamaica (AP) β An attorney who is a top official with Jamaica’s anti-doping disciplinary panel has been sent on a leave of absence following his arrest last month.
Lennox Gayle was arrested after a raid at a massage parlor in the tourist town of Montego Bay. Investigators with the organized crime division claim he owns the parlor and that prostitution took place there.
Gayle is the vice chairman of the anti-doping disciplinary panel.
A statement on Tuesday from the prime minister’s office says Gayle will not be assigned to any hearing panel pending the conclusion of his court case.
Gayle led the three-member panel that recently banned sprinters Asafa Powell and Sherone Simpson after they tested positive for a banned stimulant.
Another member of that panel faces criminal charges in a separate case.
