CHARLOTTE, NC – Tuesday, an appeals court will hear arguments on whether Virginia’s same-sex marriage ban should be lifted. Legal experts believe the courts’ ruling will likely be extended to other states in the 4th Circuit, including North Carolina.

Supporters and opponents of Amendment One fought a hard battle at the polls two years ago.

In May 2012, the constitutional amendment banning gay marriage in North Carolina passed by a 61 to 39 percent vote.

Now a three-judge panel in Virginia could decide to overturn it.
