Alleged Robbery Suspect Shot and Killed By Victim

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Police say an alleged robber was shot and killed after he tried to rob someone at a home in west Charlotte.

Detectives say they received a 911 call from a man who said he was robbed inside a home on Jordans Pond Lane.  During the course of the robbery, the victim shot one of the suspects.

A short time after the 911 call, police noticed a vehicle driving erratically.  The vehicle refused to pull over for police.  Investigators say a man eventually jumped out of the vehicle and police realized he had been shot.

It was determined that the alleged robbers were headed to the hospital.  MEDIC transported the suspect to a local hospital but he died a short time later.  He has been identified as Darlanski Sherrill.

The driver of the vehicle, Don Morrison, has been charged with armed robbery and conspiracy to commit armed robbery.  The case will be reviewed by the District Attorney’s Office to see if charges will be filed against the man who shot the alleged robber.
