CHARLOTTE, NC — A former soldier who calls Charlotte home will receive the country highest military honor Tuesday.  Sergeant Kyle White will receive the Medal of Honor from President Obama at the White House.  White put himself in the line of fire during an ambush in Afghanistan back in 2007.  Six members of his platoon died.  White, who rushed through enemy fire to help the wounded, talked to WCCB last month about his heroic actions.

“When we get put in these situations,” he said, “I didn’t do anything different than any other soldier or any other service member would have done that day if they were put in my shoes.”

White is only the seventh living recipient of the Medal of Honor to have served in Iraq or Afghanistan.
