WASHINGTON, DC — A Charlotte man has now received the country’s highest military honor. Β President Obama presented Sergeant Kyle White with the Medal of Honor Tuesday at the White House. Β The former Army sergeant was knocked unconscious by a rocket-propelled grenade in Afghanistan in 2007, then dragged fellow soldiers to safety once he woke up. Β He says the Medal of Honor is not an individual award.
“It is representation of the responsibility we accept as warriors and members of the team,” said White.Β “It is a testament to the trust we have in each other and our leaders.”
White wears a piece of metal around his wrists with the names of his six fallen brothers. Β He now works for a bank in Charlotte.
