SPARTANBURG, S.C. (AP) — Wofford has honored former player, alumnus and NFL owner Jerry Richardson with a statue on campus. The school dedicated the statue this week. Richardson played football and graduated Wofford in 1959. He went on to own the Carolina Panthers and has held summer training camp at Wofford’s facilities since before its inaugural season in 1995.

AMELIA ISLAND, Fla. (AP) — The Atlantic Coast Conference is moving its men’s basketball tournament championship game to Saturday night. The league announced Tuesday that beginning this season, the tournament will shift to a Tuesday-through-Saturday format.

CONCORD, N.C. (AP) — Accidents in three of the last four races have led HScott Motorsports to pull rookie Justin Allgaier from the entry list for the Sprint Showdown. Allgaier will watch Friday night’s qualifier at Charlotte Motor Speedway from the sidelines, and will not have a chance to race his way into the Sprint All-Star race.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) — Michael Phelps’ second comeback meet will not include a chance to go against his biggest rival. Ryan Lochte announced Tuesday he’s withdrawing from the Arena Grand Prix at Charlotte because of continued problems with his surgically repaired left knee. Lochte was injured in November during an encounter with an enthusiastic fan.
