Broken Pipe Causes Ceiling Collapse At Butler High School

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — The ceiling in a classroom at Butler High School in south Charlotte collapsed this morning around 8 a.m. , according to a spokesman at Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools.

No one was hurt, and all students and staff are safe, says Brian Hacker of CMS. As a precaution, all classes in that area of the school have been moved.

CMS says that the ceiling fell in because of a broken pipe, and appears to be unrelated to heavy rain in the area Thursday morning. The collapse only affected the interior ceiling and not the roof.
