CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police released audio recordings that are part of the domestic violence allegation investigation into Panthers player Greg Hardy. Β Hardy is heard saying, “We’re trying to get her out of my house. She keeps running back in every time. My neighbor’s outside, she witnessed everything.”Β
The 25-year-old defensive end, his voice distorted under law, can be heard in a more than four-minute 911 call asking for help just after 4:15 AM Tuesday. Β Hardy tells the dispatcher that 24-year-old Nicki Holder is attacking Hardy in his Uptown apartment, breaking glass and hitting him in the face with her fists and high heels.Β
Β
The dispatcher asks if Holder is out of Hardy’s apartment. Β Hardy says, “No, she won’t let me close the door and I can’t touch her to get her out. She’s literally kicking and scratching, my manager’s restraining her right now.” Β He goes on to say, “I don’t need a medic. She hit me in the face. I’m not bleeding or anything; it’s a little swollen but I’m fine.”
Β
Holder’s attorney Stephen Goodwin says his client is the victim, not Hardy. He says she couldn’t call 911 because she was being held down. Β Goodwin says, “My client was not the aggressor, not by a long shot. She weighs less than 120 pounds. Β Mr. Hardy, [is an] All Pro linebacker, strong, big.”Β
Β
Goodwin describes his client’s injuries as head-to-toe bruising, scratches, a swollen knee and a damaged elbow. Β He says her arm is in a sling. Goodwin says she went to CMC’s emergency room at some point Tuesday for treatment. Β When asked if her injuries could have been the result of Hardy trying to defend himself against her attack, he said this: “I would say that the physical evidence doesn’t even come close to matching that.”Β
Β
Holder filled out a restraining order request against Hardy, saying he threw her into a bathroom, told her he was going to kill her, choked her and threw her onto a couch covered in loaded assault rifles and shot guns. Β Hardy’s attorney, Chris Fialko, declined to speak to reporters, but did tell a judge Wednesday the “alleged incident did not happen.”Β
Β
Hardy is charged with communicating threats and assault on a female. Β The judge ordered Hardy to stay away from Holder. Β Hardy was released on $17,000 bond. Β He said nothing to reporters as he left court. Β
Β
Holder, a waitress, reportedly lived with Hardy until March. Β Her attorney declined to say if there was previous violence in their relationship. Β He confirmed that she tried to contact Hardy Tuesday. Β He declined to say what prompted the altercation between his client and Hardy. Β In court, it was said that both were intoxicated. Β The judge also ordered Hardy to attend three Alcoholics Anonymous classes a week.Β
