NBA PLAYOFFS-SCHEDULE
A Game 6 in two series tonight
UNDATED (AP) — The Pacers and Thunder can advance in the NBA playoffs tonight with wins. The Pacers enter this evening’s Game 6 with Washington leading 3-2. The Wizards kept their hopes alive with a lopsided 102-79 win two nights ago in Indianapolis. Tonight’s game is being played in Washington with Game 7, if needed, taking place Sunday in Indy.
Oklahoma City took a 3-2 series lead over the Clippers two nights ago and can close it out with a win tonight in Los Angeles. If the Clippers get the win on their home court they would force the final game of the series this Sunday in Oklahoma City.
NHL PLAYOFFS-SCHEDULE
One spot to go
UNDATED (AP) — There are no Stanley Cup playoff games on the schedule this evening. The Eastern Conference final is set with Montreal playing the Rangers while Chicago has wrapped up a spot in the Western final. The Blackhawks are sitting back waiting to see if they will face the Ducks or Kings.
Last night the Kings forced a seventh game with a 2-1 win on home ice. The series concludes tomorrow night in Anaheim, where the Kings won the opening two games of the series.
MLB-SCHEDULE
Four game day slate
UNDATED (AP) — There are four day games in Major League Baseball this afternoon. The first contest of the day is the first game of a day-night doubleheader in Cincinnati as the Reds play host to the Padres. San Diego starts the day riding a four-game winning streak.
In a National League Central matchup the Brewers are entertaining the Pirates.
Milwaukee has lost six of its last 10 games while the Bucs have won six of 10 to trail the Brewers by 3 1/2 games in the division. In another NL Central contest the Cardinals are looking to go above .500 with a win over the Cubs. St. Louis starts the day 20-20 while the hapless Cubbies have the fewest wins in baseball at 13-25.
The final day game features the Twins at home to the Red Sox. The Sox are a game above .500 with seven wins in their last 10 outings.
On the schedule this evening is the second of the two games in Cincinnati as well the Indians playing at Toronto, the Yankees and Mets squaring off again, Kansas City home to the Orioles, the Angels entertaining Tampa Bay and Miami playing in San Francisco. The Giants have the best mark in the game at 26-15.
PGA-BYRON NELSON
Annual tournament starts today
IRVING, Texas (AP) — The first round of the Byron Nelson Championship is being played today in Irving, Texas. Texan Jordan Spieth (speeth) leads the field that includes Matt Kuchar (KOO’-char), Angel Cabrera and Rory Sabbatini.
The host of the tournament, legendary golfer Byron Nelson, passed away in 2006 at the age of 94.
LPGA-KINGSMILL CHAMPIONSHIP
Lewis looks to be No. 1
WILLIAMSBURG, Va. (AP) — Stacy Lewis, the winner of the North Texas LPGA Shootout two weeks ago, can take the top spot in the world with a win this weekend in the Kingsmill Championship. The win was the ninth for Lewis in her LPGA career as she finished six shots in front of the field.
A year ago Cristie Kerr was the winner off the Kingsmill Championship as she edged Suzann Pettersen with a par on the second hole of a playoff.
CHAMPIONS TOUR
A major event for the seniors
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (AP) — The Regions Tradition is the first of five majors on the Champions Tour and the first round is being played today. The venue for the event is Shoal Creek in Birmingham, Ala. It’s a Jack Nicklaus-designed course.
The winner of the last event on the tour was Bernhard Langer, who beat Fred Couples by a stroke in the Insperity Invitational. The 56-year-old Langer has 20 wins on the 50-and-over tour.
