Race Fans Run for Cover During Storms

CONCORD, NC — Race fans had to run for cover as heavy rains rolled through Concord Thursday.  Charlotte Motor Speedway has a severe weather plan to keep people safe.  It includes putting alerts on the huge HD video board at the track and sending staffers and security guards to the camping areas to tell people to seek shelter.  But the rain didn’t keep some fans from setting up camp.

“We came out today to kinda beat the rush,” said York, SC resident Rich Bedner, “and we won’t leave ’til Sunday morning when it’s all over and everybody is out of here, and hopefully a little dry by then.”

Both of Thursday’s truck practices were canceled.
