Β CHARLOTTE, NC — Panthers’ player Greg Hardy turned in his guns to the Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s Office Friday. Β Ten firearms in all. Β A judge ordered it Thursday, and added it to Hardy’s bond requirements. Β Hardy is accused of assaulting and threatening 24-year-old Nicki Holder.
She says the two were fighting over her brief relationship with the rapper Nelly. Β Panthers head coach Ron Rivera talked to reporters Friday about the allegations.
“I’m not gonna comment about it,” he said.Β “I’m really not. Β Other than to say Greg’s a heck of a young man, and we’ll go from there… I know Mr. Richardson’s commitment to make sure we do things the right way… I think the biggest thing we need to do, more than anything else, is continue to focus on what we’re doing on the football field, and let other things play out. Β The thing I think is more important than anything else is the guys that are here working hard. Β I’m gonna really stress, it’s about who’s here right now, who’s doing the things that we need to get done.”
Hardy is due back in court June 27.
