GROVER, N.C. — Investigators say a 5-year-old boy was killed after a tree fell on him in Cleveland County.
Emergency personnel responded to Kim Drive on Saturday after the tree fell on the child. Police believe the victim and a 6-year-old were playing with a tree that had rotted.
At some point, the tree fell over and hit the child in the head causing internal head and neck injuries.
Police say the incident was an accident and no charges are being filed at this time. The name of the victim has not been released.
