GROVER, N.C. — Investigators say a 5-year-old boy was killed after a tree fell on him in Cleveland County. Β
Emergency personnel responded to Kim Drive on Saturday after the tree fell on the child. Β Police believe the victim and a 6-year-old were playing with a tree that had rotted. Β
At some point, the tree fell over and hit the child in the head causing internal head and neck injuries. Β
Police say the incident was an accident and no charges are being filed at this time. Β The name of the victim has not been released.
