Man Arrested For Rape After Mother Finds Him Living In Daughter’s Closet

UPDATE: Jarred Workman turned himself into law enforcement in Mecklenburg County around 4PM Monday.  He was then transported to the Iredell Co. Sheriff”s Office.  He is currently being interviewed by detectives.  Once detectives are finished questioning him, Workman will be booked into the Iredell Co. jail.  WCCB News @ Ten anchor Will Kennedy is in Iredell County and will have a complete report tonight on WCCB News @ Ten.   

STATESVILLE, N.C. — Police are searching for a man who is accused of raping a girl in Iredell County.

Deputies were called to a home in northern Iredell County after a woman discovered a man hiding in her daughter’s bedroom closet.  

Police say the man, Jarred Ashley Workman, was able to get out of the house before they arrived.  

During the course of the investigation, police found Workman’s cell phone and wallet.  The victim claims she met the suspect online and had been communicating with him for a week.  She later advised police that he sexually assaulted her.  

Detectives have obtained 11 felony warrants for statutory rape and five felony warrants for statutory sex offense.
