UPDATE: Jarred Workman turned himself into law enforcement in Mecklenburg County around 4PM Monday. Β He was then transported to the Iredell Co. Sheriff”s Office. Β He is currently being interviewed by detectives. Β Once detectives are finished questioning him, Workman will be booked into the Iredell Co. jail. STATESVILLE, N.C. — Police are searching for a man who is accused of raping a girl in Iredell County.
Deputies were called to a home in northern Iredell County after a woman discovered a man hiding in her daughter’s bedroom closet. Β
Police say the man, Jarred Ashley Workman, was able to get out of the house before they arrived. Β
During the course of the investigation, police found Workman’s cell phone and wallet. Β The victim claims she met the suspect online and had been communicating with him for a week. Β She later advised police that he sexually assaulted her. Β
Detectives have obtained 11 felony warrants for statutory rape and five felony warrants for statutory sex offense. Β
