Charlotte Catholic High School Principal Resigned After Being Audited

Β CHARLOTTE, N.C. — The Principal of Charlotte Catholic High School, Jerry Healy, resigned after an audit of schools finances by the Diocese of Charlotte.

The audit launched in March after the use of funds from a non-school account brought questions. After the audit, “Questionable Disbursements” from accounts belonging to the schoolwas discovered.

Diocesan leaders were alerted by the Charlotte Catholic High School Foundation about possible financial discrepancies in one of the foundation’s accounts.

The school announced that no tuition of scholarship funds were involved.Β 

Cynthia Grim, President of the Charlotte High Schools Foundation, would Β not Β comment on the foundation’s reported concerns.

Healy was put on leave during the time of the audit and parents were notified of his supension.

Healy has been the principle of Charlotte Catholic High School for 11 years. He was previously a principle at St. Gabriel School in 1975 and of Holy Trinity Middle School in 1977, both in Charlotte.

Healy also served on the Diocese of Charlotte School Board as well as the board of directors for the MACS Education Foundation.

Superintendent Janice Ritter said in a letter to parents that theΒ Diocese of Charlotte is, “committed to the highest standards of fiscal integrity and accountability.”

Healy is not commenting at this time.Β 

Leaders are working to find a Principal for Charlotte Catholic High School.
