CHARLOTTE, NC – Felisha Brown says she broke down after visiting her 3-year-old grandson in the hospital. “I don’t know… I’m, I’m, I’m sick,” she says.

She describes graphic injuries to the boy’s head and arms.

The child’s mother, 23-year-old Shamika Reaves and her boyfriend 32-year-old Corey McCree are charged with intentional child abuse.
Search warrants reveal Reaves is accused of shoving the boy into a wall at the Charlotte Express Inn on Lucky Penny Drive Tuesday morning. Her boyfriend McCree is also accused of sexually abusing the boy. Because of that we are not revealing the child’s name.
Gwendolyn Lee and her daughter say they took care of the boy for about a year and a half.
“I just can’t imagine the pain he went through,” Lee says. The toys he played with remain outside her house in Northwest Charlotte.
Lee says she reported suspected abuse to a social worker. “I told the lady, the social worker, I said, I don’t know the exact room they’re in, but I told her the hotel they were at and everything,” Lee says.
DSS is not commenting on the case, leaving Lee to wonder if anyone looked into her tip and whether that could have made a difference for the little boy.
