Β SHELBY, NC — A teacher assistant is accused of assaulting a handicap student at a school in Shelby. Β She’s now out of a job, and talking to WCCB Charlotte about what she says really happened.

Shelby police arrested Aleksandra Hoyle Wednesday, and charged her with misdemeanor assault. Β She’s accused of spanking a boy with a wooden spoon. Β Police say the incident happened at North Shelby School. That school is for special needs students between the ages of 3 and 21. Β

Hoyle did not want us to show her face, but tells WCCB she never hit the child, even though he was hitting and biting other teachers and students. Β “My main idea was to get the kids to the classroom and keep them safe,” said Hoyle. Β “Yeah I got frustrated. Β I grabbed the spoon and I threatened him, but I did not touch him, and I’m going to fight over this.”

Hoyle says she should not have threatened the boy, and resigned on her own. Β She will be in court on Friday, she says, to defend her name.
