WASHINGTON, D.C. — The US House has approved a bill making it easier to fire senior executives at the VA. It comes after a call for justice Wednesday night in the VA hospital scandal.
President Obama is responding to claims that 40 veterans in Phoenix died waiting for medical care. He says hospital officials will pay if they’re found guilty of covering up a secret waiting list. “Any misconduct, whether it’s allegations of VA staff covering up long wait times, or cooking the books, I will not stand for it,” he said.
Some senior VA officials are already on administrative leave. More disciplinary action could follow.
