UNDATED (AP) β There are no playoffs games in either the NBA or NHL this evening. Play resumes tomorrow with the third game in the Miami-Indiana NBA series and Game 3 in the Chicago-Los Angeles NHL series. In each case the best of seven series is tied at 1-1.
NEW YORK (AP) β The third game in the New York-Montreal NHL Eastern Conference final was last night in New York and the visiting Canadiens skated off the ice with a 3-2 overtime win. Alex Galchenyuk (gal-CHEHN’-yuk) scored the game winner, which reduced the Rangers lead in the series to 2-1.
CONCORD, N.C. (AP) β Jimmie Johnson secured the pole yesterday for Sunday night’s Coca-Cola 600. Johnson turned a lap at 194.911 mph at Charlotte Motor Speedway in the third round of NASCAR’s knockout qualifying format for his first pole of the Sprint Cup season. Brad Keselowski will start alongside Johnson on the front row in the longest Sprint Cup race of the year
