CHARLOTTE, NC — Neighbors hope their passion will get plans for the old Eastland Mall property out of limbo.  City Council voted to end negotiations with Studio Charlotte back in March.

Members of Charlotte East Community Partners met Thursday night to discuss new options for the site.  They hope plans for a movie studio remain on the table, because it will create jobs.

“We have 80-plus acres that need redeveloping.  It sits in the center of East Charlotte, and anything that happens there will balloon out and affect the rest of the community,” said Vickie Fuewell of CESP.

The city plans to present a new plan for the property in the fall.
