MIAMI (AP) β Indiana Pacers star Paul George is expected to play in Game 3 of the Eastern Conference finals against the Heat in Miami. The Pacers have announced that George has been cleared “to return to normal basketball activity,” a decision made three days after he was concussed in Game 2 of the series.
OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) β The Oklahoma City Thunder say defensive standout Serge Ibaka (ih-BAH’-kah) may not be lost for the playoffs after all. General manager Sam Presti says Ibaka’s injured left calf is showing a level of movement “not thought possible.” The Thunder lost the first two games of the best of seven series and will serve as host for Game 3 Sunday.
LOS ANGELES (AP) β A person with knowledge of the negotiations tells The Associated Press that Donald Sterling is turning his ownership stake in the Los Angeles Clippers over to his estranged wife, and she is in talks with the NBA to sell the team. The person said the couple reached the agreement after weeks if discussion. Sterling was banned for life and fined $2.5 million by NBA Commissioner Adam Silver after the release of a recording last month in which Sterling made racist remarks involving blacks.
TORONTO (AP) β The NHL has handed down two suspensions stemming from Thursday night’s Rangers-Canadiens playoff game in New York. Rangers forward Daniel Carcillo has received an automatic 10-game suspension for physical abuse of officials after he appeared to twice elbow linesman Scott Driscoll. Montreal forward Brandon Prust was suspended for two games for his hit on Derek Stepan, which left the Rangers’ forward with a broken jaw.
FORT WORTH, Texas (AP) β PGA Tour rookie Brice Garnett is the leader through two rounds of the Colonial in Fort Worth. Garnett shot a 4-under-par 66 yesterday for a 7-under total, one shot ahead of Chris Stroud and Robert Streb. Stroud made five putts from more than 20 feet in a 6-under 64.
