ATLANTA (AP) β€” Colorado Rockies third baseman Nolan Arenado suffered a broken finger during Friday’s 3-2 loss in Atlanta. Arenado reeled off a team-record 28-game hitting streak earlier this season and is hitting .305 with six homers and 28 RBIs.

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. (AP) β€” The defending-champion Boston Red Sox have their first eight-game losing streak since the end of the 2012 season. Tampa Bay pulled out a 1-0 win over the Red Sox on pinch-hitter Cole Figueroa’s RBI double in the bottom of the ninth. The Red Sox have scored just 16 runs during their skid.

UNDATED (AP) β€” The Detroit Tigers have ended their four-game skid by getting a strong pitching performance after surrendering 31 runs during the losing streak. Anibal (AH’-nih-bahl) Sanchez spotted Texas a quick 2-0 lead before he and the Tigers bullpen gave up little else in a 7-2 win over the Rangers. Austin Jackson hit a two-run homer and Andrew Romine smacked his first major league round-tripper for Detroit.

TORONTO (AP) β€” The AL East leaders stayed hot as Liam Hendriks won his season debut and Steve Tolleson hit a two-run home run in Toronto’s ninth victory in 11 games, 3-2 over Oakland. Hendriks allowed one run and three hits in 5 2/3 innings. The AL West-leading Athletics lost for just the third time in their last 14 games.

MIAMI (AP) β€” Mark Reynolds hit a pair of two-run homers and Khris Davis went deep in Milwaukee’s 9-5 win at Miami. The Brewers had dropped five of six before improving to 29-20, and increasing their lead in the NL Central to 2 Β½ games over St. Louis. The Marlins lost despite belting four home runs, two each by Giancarlo Stanton and Garrett Jones.
