INDIANAPOLIS (AP) β Kurt Busch’s biggest fans are at Indianapolis Motor Speedway to see him start his bid to complete the Indianapolis 500 and Coca-Cola 600 on Sunday.
Parents Tom and Gaye Busch met with their son in the hours before the Indy 500. Gaye Busch says she’s nervous for him and wants him to be safe.
Kurt Busch gave his mother a big hug and chatted with well-wishers.
The NASCAR veteran will try to become just the second driver to complete the fabled Double in a single day β a grueling, 1,100-mile slog that will include an airplane ride from Indiana to North Carolina in time for the longer NASCAR race Sunday night.
