OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) β Serge Ibaka (ih-BAH’-kah) shot 6-for-7 from the field and finished with 15 points and seven rebounds in 29 Β½ minutes as the Oklahoma Thunder beat San Antonio 106-97 to pull within two games to one in the NBA’s Western Conference finals. Ibaka started the game after missing the first two of the series with a left calf strain, an injury the Thunder initially thought would force him to sit out the rest of the postseason. Russell Westbrook had 26 points, eight rebounds and seven assists, and Kevin Durant added 25 points and 10 rebounds.
NEW YORK (AP) β Martin St. Louis (mahr-TAN’ san loo-EE’) scored at 6:02 of overtime to give the New York Rangers a 3-2 win over the Canadiens and a three-games-to-one lead in the NHL’s Eastern Conference finals. Henrik Lundqvist stopped 27 shots and got the secondary assist on Derick Brassard’s go-ahead goal with 56 seconds left in the second period. P.K. Subban (SOO’-ban) forced overtime with Montreal’s first power-play goal of the series, beating Lundqvist two minutes into the third period.
PHILADELPHIA (AP) β Josh Beckett as thrown the first no-hitter of the season and the 21st in Los Angeles Dodgers history. Beckett struck out six and walked three as the Dodgers whipped the Phillies 6-0 in Philadelphia. He struck out Chase Utley with his career-high 128th pitch to complete the Dodgers’ first no-hitter since Hideo Nomo (hih-DAY’-oh NOH’-moh) in 1996.
INDIANAPOLIS (AP) β Ryan Hunter-Reay (ray) won the Indianapolis 500 after battling Helio Castroneves (EHL’-ee-oh kas-troh-NAY’-vihs) over the final few laps. Hunter-Reay won by 0.060 seconds, the second closest finish in race history and topped only by Al Unser Jr.’s victory over Scott Goodyear by 0.043 seconds in 1992. Marco Andretti was third.
CONCORD, N.C. (AP) β Defending Sprint Cup champion Jimmie Johnson passed Matt Kenseth with nine laps to go and won the Coca-Cola 600 at Charlotte Motor Speedway for his first victory of the season. Kevin Harvick was second, followed by Kenseth and Carl Edwards. Kurt Busch blew an engine with 129 laps to go, ending his bid to join Tony Stewart as the only drivers to complete the Indianapolis 500 and Coca-Cola 600 on the same day.
