Β MATTHEWS, NC — It’s time to Lace Up, Son! Β Former Carolina Panther Steve Smith hosted his inaugural 5K Monday morning in Matthews. Β Wilson from Rising joined him to kick off the run which benefits the Siskey YMCA.
Smith says even though he’s now a Baltimore Raven, he’s still committed to helping people in the Carolinas. Β “Yeah, it is my home, and you know, football is football, but family is family. Β So the family lives, we live here, and we’re going to serve here,” he said.
After the run, Smith hosted a pancake breakfast and Memorial Day celebration including a recognition of women in the military.
