CHARLOTTE, N.C.- This week’s Waiting Child is strong-willed, smart and loves sports. He hopes to find a family that will help prepare him for adulthood.
This is Tanner. He’s 16 years old, wants to play football and loves basketball. He says when it comes to shooting hoops he knows his strengths and weaknesses, “When I’m under pressure I can’t shoot, but when I’m not under pressure I can shoot all day.”
Family is very important to Tanner, however he worries he’ll never know what it feels like to have one, “I’m about to turn 18 in a couple years and I need some independent living skills. I got to learn how to cook and stuff because I’m going to have a family of my own one day.”
He says it hasn’t always been easy, but he’s staying positive. He hopes to one day meet his special family, “My heart’s been torn to pieces by my family members a bit and I need a family to come and patch that up for me.”
What does the future hold for tanner? He’s eager to see what’s ahead, “Because of my bright future. It’s so bright if I had some sunglasses right now I would just go.”
Consider adoption, you have the choice to change a life forever.
