CHARLOTTE, N.C.- This week’s Waiting Child is strong-willed, smart and loves sports. Β He hopes to find a family that will help prepare him for adulthood. Β
This is Tanner. Β He’s 16 years old, wants to play football and loves basketball. Β He says when it comes to shooting hoops he knows his strengths and weaknesses, “When I’m under pressure I can’t shoot, but when I’m not under pressure I can shoot all day.”
Family is very important to Tanner, however he worries he’ll never know what it feels like to have one, “I’m about to turn 18 in a couple years and I need some independent living skills. I got to learn how to cook and stuff because I’m going to have a family of my own one day.”
He says it hasn’t always been easy, but he’s staying positive. Β He hopes to one day meet his special family, “My heart’s been torn to pieces by my family members a bit and I need a family to come and patch that up for me.”
What does the future hold for tanner? Β He’s eager to see what’s ahead, “Because of my bright future. Β It’s so bright if I had some sunglasses right now I would just go.”
Consider adoption, you have the choice to change a life forever.
If you think Tanner would be a good fit for your family contact the North Carolina Children’s Home Society.
