CHARLOTTE, NC — The driver in a crash that killed a baby and injured five people in north Charlotte is charged with DWI.  Investigators say Thabiti Pierre-Louis was speeding on Old Statesville Road when he lost control and hit a telephone pole Tuesday afternoon.  Six people were inside the car.  CMPD says the four-month-old girl who died wasn’t in a car seat.  The car rolled on top of her.

“It was real bad; it was devastating,” said witness Priscilla Kelly.  “The car flipped over and tore the pole up, and they was driving 80 to 100 miles an hour.  It was devastating.”

The five other people in the car have non-life threatening injuries.  The driver will also be charged with child neglect, felony death by vehicle and overcrowding a vehicle.
