CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Scholar-athletes at 17 of North Carolina’s public universities can join the labor union as state employees. The SEANC made the vote and is now working out the kinks in the pioneering decision.

Spokeswoman Tori Davis irons out some common misconceptions that have been tossed around since the news broke.

She says the association serves as state employees’ advocate in the General Assembly.

Davis explains that members of SEANC determine the priorities, so they will know the problems once athletes join.

Membership costs $9/month.
