DUBLIN, Ohio (AP) β Tiger Woods has withdrawn from the U.S. Open as he recovers from back surgery that has kept him out of golf for nearly three months. Woods says on his website Wednesday he is physically unable to play golf at a high level.
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (AP) β The Southeastern Conference will play its 2016 women’s basketball tournament in Jacksonville. It will be the first time the Sunshine State has hosted the event. The league previously awarded the tournament to North Little Rock, Arkansas, in 2015 and Nashville, Tennessee, in 2018, 2022 and 2026.
BOSTON (AP) β John Lackey pitched neatly into the seventh inning and the Boston Red Sox beat the Atlanta Braves 4-0 Wednesday night, their third straight victory. The Red Sox honored Manny Ramirez, Pedro Martinez, Curt Schilling and members of their 2004 World Series championship team before the game, then put on another winning performance at Fenway Park.
