ATLANTIC BEACH, SC — South Carolina’s governor is calling for an end to a yearly Memorial Day motorcycle rally near Myrtle Beach.  Three people died and ten people were hurt in shootings during last weekend’s Atlantic Beach Bikefest.  Police have not tied the violence directly to Bikefest, which attracts mainly black bikers.  Haley says the violence does not demonstrate what South Carolina is about.

“I think it’s time that everybody in Horry County come together and say, ‘No more’.  We’re proud of our state, we are proud of the look of our state, we are proud of the actions of our state, we are proud of the people of our state,” she said.

The mayor of Atlantic Beach says he has no plans to cancel or make major changes to the event.   There were no major incidents reported during a Harley-Davidson rally in Myrtle Beach earlier this month.
