MIAMI (AP) β The Miami Heat crushed the Indiana Pacers 117-92 last night to join the Boston Celtics and Los Angeles Lakers as the only teams to reach the NBA Finals in four consecutive seasons. LeBron James and Chris Bosh each scored 25 points for the Heat, who hit 11 3-pointers and shot 58 percent from the field. Rashard Lewis and Dwyane (dwayn) Wade each added 13 points to the rout.
LOS ANGELES (AP) β Los Angeles Clippers owner Donald Sterling has filed suit in federal court against the NBA and Commissioner Adam Silver and is asking for damages in excess of $1 billion. The suit alleges the league violated Sterling’s constitutional rights by relying on information from an “illegal” recording that publicized racist remarks he made to a girlfriend. The suit was filed as the NBA was canceling its June 3 hearing to consider Sterling’s removal as owner of the Clippers, saying the team will be sold to former Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer.
LOS ANGELES (AP) β Patrick Kane scored with 3:45 remaining to give the Chicago Blackhawks a 4-3 win over the Kings in Los Angeles. Kane finished with two goals and an assist as the Hawks forced a Game 7 in the NHL’s Western Conference finals Sunday in Chicago. The Kings went ahead 3-2 on third-period goals by Drew Doughty and Alex Martinez before Kane set up Duncan Keith’s game-tying goal.
DUBLIN, Ohio (AP) β Paul Casey will carry a three-shot lead over Bubba Watson into the third round of the Memorial in Dublin, Ohio. Casey fired a second straight 6-under 66 after beginning the round three strokes behind Rory McIlroy, who’s nine shots back following yesterday’s 78. Chris Kirk is four shots off the pace and one ahead of Martin Flores and Hideki Matsuyama (hih-DEHK’-ee math-soo-YAH’-mah).
PARIS (AP) β Top-seed and eight-time champion Rafael Nadal takes on Leonardo Mayer at the French Open later today. Fifth seed David Ferrer and No. 7 Andy Murray also take the courts at Roland Garros. The top three women’s seeds are all eliminated after No. 3 Agnieszka Radwanska (ahg-nee-ESH’-kuh rahd-VAHN’-skuh) was knocked off by an unseeded player from Croatia in straight sets yesterday.
