Cannon could spend up to 20 years in prison and receive a $250,000 fine in the guilty plea, according to a plea agreement. The document also says he will be supervised after his release from prison, he will testify against co-defendants and will continue to provide materials requested via court.
Cannon was arrested in March on numerous federal corruption charges.
He is accused of taking nearly $70,000 from undercover FBI agents, claiming he could use his political position to help investors.
Cannon is accused of soliciting and accepting cash, paid travel and other items in exchange for the use of his ability to influence city officials responsible for planning, zoning and the alignment of the City’s proposed LYNX Blue Line Extension.
