CHARLOTTE,N.C. – Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police are looking for the suspects who shot a woman in the face.  The victim tells CMPD the two people walked up to her while she was at the ATM off N. Sharon Amity Road in east Charlotte just before 1:30 Wednesday morning.  They demanded her Coach purse and her iPhone, and then shot the 45-year-old woman in the face.

Her name is being withheld, but we know she was taken to the hospital with what’s being called a “serious injury” that caused permanent damage. A CMPD spokesperson couldn’t tell us if her injury required surgery or if she’s still in the hospital.  They also don’t know where on her face she was shot or what type of gun was used.  The police report reveals the suspects also shot into the passenger side door of her car, a 2010 Honda Accord.

One resident who’s used the ATM for years tells WCCB she was surprised about what happened. She says, “Sometimes I use it on the way to work, but I drive around it to make sure nobody’s out here looking.”

Another woman also tells WCCB she regularly uses the ATM, until we told her what happened. East Charlotte resident Makeba Carter says, “That makes me not want to be here at all. So I probably will actually choose another ATM to go to.” That’s exactly what she did: got back in her car and drove off.

CMPD tells WCCB this shooting is the only call for service they’ve received at that address in the past three months.  If you have any information about this case, call Crime Stoppers at 704-334
1600.  You don’t have to give your name and you could get a reward.
