Β SPARTANBURG COUNTY, S.C. — Jason Barrett, 49 of Chesnee, is charged with Felony DUI after hitting a pedestrian who died on US 221 just before 1:30 a.m. Saturday.
Barrett was not injured in the accident and the pedestrian, whose name has not been released, died at the scene.
Barrett was taken to the Spartanburg County Detention Center.Β
Barrett was driving a Dodge Avenger south on US 221 near Gossett Road when he hit the pedestrian who was walking. The pedestrian was knocked into the north bound lane of US 221 where they were then hit by two other cars.
John Leary, 40, in a Toyota Forerunner hit the pedestrian who was then hit by Joselyn Arnette, 21, driving a Honda Minivan. Leary and Arnette were wearing seat belts and were not injured.
The accident is still under investigation by the S.C. Highway Patrol.
