
Β CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, S.C. — One person died after a car drove off the road and hit a ditch around 1 a.m. Sunday.
Jimmy Presley, 46, was driving a 1997 Ford Explorer with three other passengers inside. He was heading south on W. L. Melton Road when he ran off the road and hit a ditch.
The person in the back left seat, whose name has not been released, was ejected from the car. They were not wearing a seat belt and were pronounced dead at the scene.
The other passengers, Ricky Deese, 48, and Eric Newsome, 36, were injured along with the driver and taken to Carolina Pines Medical Center by EMS.Β
S.C. Highway Patrol is still investigating the crash. Charges are pending.Β
