Heat even series
SAN ANTONIO (AP) β The air conditioning worked just fine in San Antonio’s AT&T Center Sunday night, but it couldn’t stop LeBron James from heating up.
The NBA Finals are tied at one game apiece after James scored 35 points and grabbed 10 rebounds in Miami’s 98-96 win over the Spurs. James shot 14-for-22 from the field, including all three of his 3-point attempts. He scored eight points in the final 7:14, one game after a faulty air conditioning system in the building led to leg cramps that caused James to miss the final four minutes. The Heat trailed by two when he left the game and wound up losing by 15.
The game turned in the Heat’s favor midway through the fourth quarter after Manu Ginobili (MAN’-oo-jih-NOH’-blee) hit two free throws to put the Spurs ahead 87-85. Tony Parker and Tim Duncan each missed two free throws during a nine-second span before James drained a 3-pointer to put Miami ahead. But the Heat didn’t go ahead to stay until Chris Bosh hit a three with 1:18 remaining.
Bosh finished with 18 points, while Rashard Lewis and Dwyane (dwayn) Wade each had 14 for Miami.
Parker had a team-high 21 points for the Spurs, while Duncan added 19 and a game-high 15 rebounds.
Game 3 is Tuesday in Miami.
FRENCH OPEN
Another win in Paris for Nadal
PARIS (AP) βTop seed Rafael Nadal (rah-fay-ehl nah-DAHL’) has retained the French Open championship with a 3-6, 7-5, 6-2, 6-4 win over second-seed Novak Djokovic (NOH’-vak JOH’-kuh-vich). The championship is Nadal’s ninth at the French Open and fifth straight. By winning it he will be No. 1 in the world rankings on Monday.
This was the 42nd time the two had met with Nadal leading the series 23-19. It was also their 12th Grand Slam meeting with Nadal owning a 9-3 record which includes six wins in Paris.

King Felix, Zimmermann in top form
UNDATED (AP) β Sunday’s major league action was highlighted by a pair of wonderful pitching performances in St. Petersburg and San Diego, with both tossed by the road team.
Felix Hernandez allowed just four hits and struck out a career-high 15 in just seven innings as Seattle blanked Tampa Bay 5-0. Hernandez lowered his ERA to 2.39 but wasn’t involved in the decision after winning his previous five starts. He left in a scoreless tie after throwing 100 pitches.
The Mariners didn’t score until the ninth when Endy Chavez hit an RBI single and scored on a two-run triple by James Jones before Kyle Seager added a two-run double.
Jordan Zimmermann tossed his third career shutout and sixth complete game in Washington’s 6-0 shutout of San Diego. Zimmermann had a perfect game until Alexi Amarista hit a one-out single in the sixth. The Nationals’ starter allowed just one other hit and finished with 12 strikeouts.
Ian Desmond hit a two-run homer and Danny Espinosa went 3-for-4 with two RBIs as the Nationals moved into a virtual three-way tie with Atlanta and Miami in the National League East.

β Brandon Moss’s grand slam capped a six-run third inning as Oakland pounded Baltimore 11-1. John Jaso (JAY’-soh) added four RBIs to support Scott Kazmir, who allowed four hits while fanning seven in seven shutout innings for the AL West leaders.
β The Angels completed a three-game sweep as C.J. Wilson carried a three-hit shutout into the eighth inning of a 4-2 decision over the Chicago White Sox. Josh Hamilton drove in three runs to help Wilson get his seventh win.
β David Ortiz crushed a three-run homer off Joba (JAH’-bah) Chamberlain with one out in the ninth to send Boston to a 5-3 win at Detroit, ending the Red Sox’s five-game skid. Mike Napoli also homered for the Bosox, who dropped their first five meetings with the Tigers this season.
β Chris Carter and Jon Singleton each hit their first career grand slams to power Houston to a 14-5 victory over Minnesota. The only other time two Astros players hit grand slams in the same game was July 30, 1969, at New York when Denis Menke (MEHN’-kee) and Jimmy Wynn both hit slams in an 11-run ninth inning against the Mets.
β Kansas City squeaked by the Yankees 2-1 in the rubber match as Lorenzo Cain and Mike Moustakas drove in runs for the Royals. The Royals have won their last seven games started by James Shields, who limited the Yankees to an unearned run and six hits in six innings.
βLonnie Chisenhall had two hits and scored twice to help Cleveland edge Texas 3-2. Chisenhall singled and scored in the fifth and sixth innings, while raising his average to .365, highest in the majors among players with at least 150 plate appearances.
β Pedro Strop (strohp) threw a wild pitch that allowed the go-ahead run to score in the eighth inning to give the Marlins a 4-3 win over the Cubs, ending Chicago’s five-game winning streak. Garrett Jones hit a sacrifice fly to tie the game in the eight before’s Strop’s wild toss allowed Giancarlo Stanton to score.
β Chase Anderson is the first pitcher since 1998 to win his first five major league starts after recording a career-high eight strikeouts and allowing two runs in seven innings of Arizona’s 6-5 win against Atlanta. The Braves led 2-0 until David Peralta (peh-RAHL’-tah) and Paul Goldschmidt hit two-run homers in a six-run seventh.
β Gregor Blanco hit a go-ahead, two-run double and had three RBIs as San Francisco completed a three-game sweep of the New York Mets 6-4. The Mets suffered their sixth straight loss despite Curtis Granderson’s two-run homer and three RBIs.
β The Dodgers were 6-1 winners over Colorado in a game stopped by rain after the Dodgers scored four times in the sixth. Matt Kemp lined a two-run triple, Jamie Romak added a two-run double and Clayton Kershaw struck out nine while allowing a run and three hits over five innings.
β Aramis (uh-RAH’-mihs) Ramirez drove in the only run of the game with a ground out in the seventh to give Milwaukee a 1-0 win over Pittsburgh. Yovani Gallardo (gy-AHR’-doh) got the win by scattering four hits and striking out eight over seven innings.
β Jaime Garcia and two relievers combined on a three-hitter as St. Louis earned its second straight 5-0 victory in Toronto. Matt Carpenter and Jhonny (JAH’-nee) Peralta homered to support Garcia, who allowed three hits in seven innings of his first victory in three starts.
β Homer Bailey gave up six hits in eight innings and delivered the go-ahead, two-run single as the Reds beat the Phillies 4-1 in Cincinnati. Billy Hamilton added a two-run homer for the Reds, who won their second straight since a three-game losing streak.

Rangers lose Moreland
ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) β Mitch Moreland will be lost to the Texas Rangers for about three months after undergoing ankle surgery. He was trying to play through the pain in his left ankle while Prince Fielder recovers from neck surgery last month.
The Rangers are a banged up club with about a dozen players sidelined by an array of injuries.

Earnhardt wins in Long Bond
LONG LOND, Pa. (AP) β Dale Earnhardt Jr. is the winner of the Pocono 400 after passing Brad Keselowski with five laps to go. Earnhardt’s victory coupled with his triumph in the Daytona 500 gives him multiple wins in a season for the first time in a decade.
Keselowski finished second, followed by Kurt Busch.

Ricciardo wins in Canada
MONTREAL (AP) β Daniel Ricciardo (rih-KAHR’-doh) took the lead from Nico (NEE’-koh) Rosberg on the penultimate lap to win the Canadian Grand Prix. The win is the first in Formula 1 for Riccardo, who joined the Red Bull team in the off season.
Four-time defending world champion Sebastian Vettel finished third, while Lewis Hamilton failed to finish the race because of brake problems. Hamilton was seeking his fifth win of the season.
PGA-ST. JUDE CLASSIC
Crane gets the win
MEMPHIS (AP) β Ben Crane wrapped up the weather plagued St. Jude Classic for his first victory since 2011. He closed with a 3-over 73 to beat Troy Merritt by one shot. Merritt finished with a 71.
Phil Mickelson tuned up for the U.S. Open with a 72 to finish at minus-6, four shots off the lead.
LPGA-MANULIFE FINANCIAL LPGA CLASSIC
Big round gives Park the win
WATERLOO, Ontario (AP) β Inbee Park is the winner of the Manulife Financial Classic, her first LPGA Tour title in more than 11 months. She matched the course record with a 10-under 61 for a 23-under total and a three-stroke victory over Cristie Kerr.
Kerr finished with a 63.
