RALEIGH, NC — A Waffle House waitress who got a $1,000 tip nearly missed out on the payday when the restaurant refused to hand over the money. Waffle House has a policy about large tips on credit cards. Managers told the single mom the tip had to be in cash. The waitress said she felt humiliated.
“It wouldn’t be no different if the man landed cash on the table and the manager had snatched it away and said, ‘No, you can’t have this.’ It was very humiliating.”
Lucky for her, the good Samaritan tipper heard about the money troubles and wrote the waitress a check for the full amount.
