ROCK HILL, S.C. — Ethics concerns involving Winthrop University’s new president.

The school’s Board of Trustees is holding a special meeting to talk about the issues today.

Dr. Jamie Comstock Williamson’s husband made $27,000 as a part-time employee. He was hired by the president’s chief of staff, and represented the university in Rock Hill and Columbia.

Some students say it doesn’t bother them.

A student at the university, Katherine Wilson, ” I went to her inauguration and she sounded like she knows what she is doing and I liked her a lot so hopefully she will stick around for a little bit longer,” says Wilson.

President Willamson tells WCCB Charlotte, during the entire stint of her husband’s nine-month employment, they took great care to comply with the South Carolina Ethics Act.

They have returned the $27,000 he was paid.
