CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Former UNC Football player Kenan Gay was found not guilty in the second degree murder of Robert Kingston.

Prosecutors and Gay’s defense attorney both spoke to the media shortly after the verdict was read in court.

Gay was accused of shoving Kingston out of Ed’s Tavern into the street after Kingston allegedly tried to kiss Gay’s girlfriend.  Kingston was then hit and killed by a vehicle.

The incident happened in March of 2012.   The verdict was decided after three days of deliberations.
