WRIGHTSVILLE BEACH, NC — A convicted felon wanted for the murder of his ex-wife in Rowan County is in custody hundreds of miles away along the Carolina coast. Police arrested Rodney Wallace Thursday in Wrightsville Beach.
They say he was in a car with a woman who apparently received a text that he was wanted. She jumped out and screamed for help. Wallace is accused of killing Toney Ann Johnson on Wednesday. Neighbors in Spencer heard screaming, then spotted her body in the grass between two houses.
